# Dashboard - Filter

* Once you've [added a data model into a View](https://endash-guidance-docs.gitbook.io/docs/dashboard/widget/add-any-widget-type-with-any-available-data-model), you can create filter tags to refine and customize the information displayed.
* These filter tags enable you to precisely control which data, columns, and items are presented in the View, ensuring the most accurate and relevant information is readily available.

{% hint style="info" %}

* You can apply the filters to the whole Widget in the [Dashboard](https://endash-guidance-docs.gitbook.io/docs/dashboard/dashboard-filter/filtering-the-dashboard/add-the-dashboard-filters) or only a specific [Widget](https://endash-guidance-docs.gitbook.io/docs/dashboard/widget-types/table/table-filter).
* The [Goal widget](https://endash-guidance-docs.gitbook.io/docs/dashboard/widget-types/goal-chart-type) is not affected by the Dashboard filter.
