While the Time Series mode is ON, you can use the Reference date preset to compare to the past and further visualize your data in the Table, Bar chart, Line chart, and Board chart.
The Reference date preset includes Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly options.
Your Time series mode widget will display the reference range depending on the chosen option.
With the Daily option, the day range shall be listed day to day.
For example, the date filter has a range from 2023-01-01 to 2023-12-31, your date data shall display 2023-01-01, 2023-01-02, 2023-01-03 ... 2023-12-31
With the Weekly option, the day range shall be listed week to week. It will also include the day(s) outside of the filter date if it is in the first week.
For example, the date filter has a range from 2023-01-04 to 2023-02-07, your date data shall display 2023-01-01 (1st week), 2023-01-08 (2nd week), 2023-01-15 (3rd week) ... 2023-02-05 (6th week).
The dates 2023-01-01, 02, and 03 are displayed because they are the days of the week which contains the date 2023-01-04.
The data only calculate from 2023-01-04 to 2023-02-07, even though 2023-01-01, 02, and 03 are displayed.
This logic is also applied to past weeks when Compare to the Past.
With the Monthly option, the day range shall be listed month to month.
For example, the date filter has a range from 2023-01-01 - 2023-12-31, your date data shall display 2023-01, 2023-02, 2023-03 ... 2023-12.
With the Quarterly option, the day range shall be listed quarterly to quarterly.
For example, the date filter has a range from 2023-01-01 to 2023-12-31, your date data shall display 2023-Q1, 2023-Q2, 2023-Q3, and 2023-Q4.
With the Yearly option, the day range shall be listed yearly to yearly.
For example, the date filter has a range from 2022-01-01 to 2024-12-31, your date data shall display 2022, 2023, and 2024.
The "Compare to the Past" feature helps you observe the differences between the values of your selected setup date and the value of the chosen comparison past date.
To begin, turn on the Compare to the past toggle.
The default option is Previous time.
Type or open the previous dropdown option to configure your compared date.
Check the "Current date range" and "Date range to compare" to see which date range is compared to the current date.
When using the Reference data preset, the previous dropdown option is matched with it.
If you compare the full days of a month to any previous month, it will include the full days of the past month. For example:
The date filter has a range from 2023-02-01 to 2023-02-28, a full February with 28 days, and you compare it with the Previous 1 Month -> the past date range shall be 2023-01-01 to 2023-01-31, a full January with 31 days.
The date filter has a range from 2023-02-01 to 2023-02-27, only 27 days in February, and you compare it with the Previous 1 Month -> the past date range shall be 2023-03-01 to 2023-03-27, exactly 27 days.
The Right before option will compare your data with the same period before.
For example, the date filter has a range from 2023-01-01 to 2023-03-31, which is 90 days long, your compared date data shall display 2022-10-03 to 2023-12-31, which is also 90 days long.
Right before option is only working if your Reference date preset is Daily.
Change the Reference date preset to other options will auto applied to the Custom range.
You can freely choose a past date range to compare with the Custom range option.
Your compared custom range will be exactly like your selected date range.
For example, the date filter has a range from 2023-01-01 to 2023-03-31, which is 90 days long, if you choose your compared past date from 2022-08-01, your compared custom range shall display 2022-08-01 to 2022-10-29 which is also 90 days long.
